FAQ
Useful information for candidates

  • What experience do I need to have?

    • All applicant will need to have at least 2 years care experience in either Hospital, Nursing/Residential Home, or Social Care sector. This is an essential requirement as all cares will be working unsupervised and be able to demonstrate that they have basic care skills. Most carers seeking to register with us already have an NVQ qualification. An NVQ qualification is desirable but not essential.

  • Do I need to be a car driver?

    • No, this is not an essential requirement.

  • Can I be employed or self-employed?

    • Most of our carers work on a self-employed basis. If you have been working as a self-employed carer we would asked to see evidence from HM Revenue & Customs that you are registered and that you have a self employment tax reference number.

If you are willing to become self-employed we can advise you on what you need to do when you registered with Live-in comfort.

All self-employed carers will need to insure that they have adequate Public Liability Insurance which will generally cost about £150 per annum.

  • Will I have regular assignments?

    • We are an agency and therefore are not guarantee to find you work. Carers with good experience and training who have kept themselves updated and who are flexible do find that the get regular work.

  • What type of client groups will I be expected to care for?

    • That depends on your training and experience we will always try to match you with clients who requires your skills, experience and your personality and interests. We will generally give you as much history about the client as possible. You are under no obligation to accept any assignments offered.

  • What Training will I be expected to undertake?

    • If you are self- employed you are under no obligation to take up our training programmes, we do however find that cares who do undertake regular training and keep themselves updated, are offered more assignments.
