FAQ
Useful information for customers

  • What areas does Live-In Comfort cover?

    • Live-In Comfort covers the following areas: Sussex, Surrey, South London, Southern Kent and Southern Hampshire anywhere within 1 hour's drive from Brighton.

  • How much does live-in care cost?

    • Our fees generally start from £650. We can usually give you an estimate over the telephone, as every care service is different. Then, once we have undertaken a care and home assessment, we can give you an exact cost in writing. We do not profess to be the cheapest care agency around but we believe that we offer good value for money, providing a professional and reliable service based on quality, flexibility, reliability, continuity and good quality care. The result is a cost-effective alternative to hourly care workers.

  • What happens during the assessment?

    • Our Quality Care Adviser will visit the client at home and discuss his or her care needs. We shall also assess any equipment that may be needed to assist with moving and handling. The appointment usually takes between 1 - 1.5 hours and is free if the service is for 4 weeks or more.

  • Who are your client groups?

    • Our clients are adults who require a range of care services, from those needing companionship and housekeeping to those with complex, high dependency care needs.

  • Is Live-In Comfort registered with the Care Quality Commission?

    • Yes, we are registered with the Care Quality Commission. We are also full members of the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA), which is the professional body for Care Agencies. In addition, we appear as a preferred provider on the East & West Sussex Social Services list.

  • Can Live-In Comfort provide continuity?

    • We arrange to provide all our clients with their own teams of carers working on a rota system. This we believe gives the client reliability, stability and good quality care.

  • What happens if the carer is not suitable?

    • Sometimes, for a number of reasons, one or more parties may not suit. If this happens, we shall be proactive in resolving the problem by visiting or telephoning you at home to discuss any issues. We would then replace the carer if this is your wish.

  • What happens if my condition deteriorates?

    • If your condition deteriorates, our Quality Care Adviser will need to visit you to undertake another care assessment. The deterioration may mean an increase in the duties of your carer. We must then ensure that the carers assigned to you have adequate experience and training to care for you effectively. An increase in the carer's responsibilities may involve an increase in fees which will be explained during the re-assessment.

  • How much notice is required before a care service can commence?

    • We can generally commence a live-in care service within 72 hours. We would need you to contact us as soon as possible as it is usually necessary to undertake both a home and care needs assessment before the service begins.

  • What training do the carers undergo?

    • All our carers will undertake the following training programme:

      • Company Induction
      • Moving and Handling
      • Infection Control
      • Health and Safety
      • Basic First Aid
      • Food Hygiene
      • Protection of Vulnerable Adults
      • Dementia Awareness
      • Medication in a Homecare Setting
      • Risk Assessment
      • Pressure Area Care
      • Nutrition and Diet

If carers are working with clients with complex needs we would request that they undertake specialist training in that area, e.g.: Caring for clients with advanced neurological disease; Enhanced care for stroke clients; End of life care.
